Terms of Service

Effective October 10, 2026

OrthoCompanion is not an emergency service. If you have chest pain, trouble breathing, signs of a blood clot, heavy bleeding, or think you may be having a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. Do not wait for a reply in the app.

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Companion Health Technologies, LLC (“Companion Health,” “we,” “us”), which operates OrthoCompanion, including orthocompanion.com and the OrthoCompanion web application (together, the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

If you use the Service on behalf of a medical practice or other organization, you agree to these Terms on its behalf and confirm you have authority to do so. A separate written agreement between Companion Health Technologies, LLC and your practice (including any Business Associate Agreement) controls where it conflicts with these Terms.

2. Not for emergencies

OrthoCompanion helps your surgical care team follow your recovery. It is not monitored around the clock, and no one is guaranteed to see a check-in, alert, photo, or message right away. Response times depend on your practice and its office hours.

Alerts and risk indicators in the Service are automated and may miss a problem or flag one that is not there. Never rely on the Service, or on the absence of a response, to decide that you are safe. If something feels wrong, call your surgeon’s office, and for an emergency call 911.

3. Not medical advice

The Service does not provide medical care and does not replace the judgment of your surgeon, physical therapist, or other clinicians. Educational content, recovery scores, range-of-motion readings, AI-assisted summaries, and suggested next steps are informational tools. Your care team decides on your treatment.

Range-of-motion measurements taken with your phone or computer camera are estimates. Lighting, camera angle, clothing, and positioning affect them, and they are not a substitute for a clinical measurement.

Clinicians using the Service remain fully responsible for their clinical decisions and for meeting their professional obligations.

4. Who can use it

Patients use the Service when enrolled by a participating practice. You must be at least 18 years old, or have a parent or legal guardian use the Service for you. Care-team accounts are issued by a practice to its own staff and clinicians.

5. Your account

  • Give accurate information and keep it up to date.
  • Keep your sign-in details private. You are responsible for activity under your account.
  • Tell us or your practice right away at privacy@orthocompanion.com if you think someone else has accessed your account.
  • For your protection, sessions sign out after a period of inactivity.

6. Practices and care teams

Your practice decides which features you see, which questions you are asked, who on its team can view your information, and how it responds. Companion Health Technologies, LLC provides the technology; we are not your healthcare provider and do not direct your care.

Practices are responsible for obtaining any consents their patients must give, for the accuracy of the information they enter, and for giving access only to people who need it.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • access information about a patient you are not authorized to see;
  • share your account, or use someone else’s account;
  • probe, scan, or test the Service’s security, or get around any access control;
  • copy, scrape, reverse engineer, or resell the Service, except as the law expressly allows;
  • upload anything unlawful, harmful, or that you do not have the right to share, or use the Service to harass anyone; or
  • interfere with the Service or place an unreasonable load on it.

8. Your information

You keep any rights you have in the information you submit, including check-in answers, photos, and messages. You allow Companion Health Technologies, LLC to host, process, and display that information to provide the Service to you and your practice, as described in our Privacy Policy and in our agreements with your practice.

If you send us suggestions or feedback, we may use them without obligation to you.

9. Our property

The Service, including its software, design, text, graphics, and the OrthoCompanion name and logo, belongs to Companion Health Technologies, LLC or its licensors and is protected by law. We give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Service for its intended purpose while these Terms apply.

10. Messages and notices

The Service may send you reminders and updates in the app and, if you or your practice turn them on, by text message or email. Message and data rates may apply. You can change these preferences in your settings or by asking your practice. Text messages and email are not always secure, so avoid sending detailed health information through them.

11. Ending your access

You can stop using the Service at any time. Your access usually ends when your practice’s monitoring period ends or when your practice stops using the Service. We may suspend or end access if you break these Terms, if needed to protect the Service or others, or if required by law. Your practice may still keep your records as part of your medical record.

Sections that by their nature should continue — including 3, 8, 9, and 12 through 15 — survive the end of your access.

12. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent the law allows, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any alert, measurement, or score will be accurate or complete.

13. Limits on liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Companion Health Technologies, LLC and its officers, employees, and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from or related to the Service. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).

Some places do not allow these limits, so some of them may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

14. Indemnification

If you use the Service on behalf of a practice, you and the practice will defend and hold Companion Health Technologies, LLC harmless from claims arising from your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or clinical care provided by you or your practice.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Georgia, and you and Companion Health Technologies, LLC consent to their jurisdiction. Before filing a claim, please contact us so we can try to resolve it informally.

16. Changes

We may update these Terms. When we do, we will change the effective date above, and for material changes we will give notice in the Service or by other reasonable means. Continuing to use the Service after an update means you accept it.

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms; we may transfer them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

17. Contact

Questions about these Terms: privacy@orthocompanion.com. Questions about your care should go to your surgeon’s office.
